Railroad Conductor Job Description

 Railroad Conductors are responsible for coordinating the activities of both the train crew and passengers in transport. They act as a communications channel for the switch-engine crew within the railroad lot, industrial plot and affiliate locations. The conductor performs head count inventory by collecting ticket, passes and fare from passengers and ensuring that cargo Is accounted for prior, during and after each stop.

The conductor acts as a point of contact for engineering and logistic, coordinating with system engineers for train routes, transportation time lines and cargo particulars in executing and coming up with ideal and alternative routes in the event of railing defects or road obstructions. He also provides confirmation for travel routes and destination information for freight cargo and transport modules. Railroad conductors provide instruction and direct railroad personnel who are tasked with yard work, with instructions on switching tracks, coupling cars, routing for inbound and outbound traffic and direct engineers to facilitate car movement in accordance to train configuration.

Heating and cooling regulation is one of the core responsibilities of the Railroad conductor, instructing ventilation personal to regulate air-conditioning, heating and lighting conditions for all passenger cars in accordance to comfort and quality standards provided by company. The Railroad conductor performs record keeping and content management for each train car, ensuring that all cars are included and unloaded within the appropriate route and stop. When it comes to ocular inspection and signal transmission management, the Railroad conductor observes panel board signals and monitors the chart location of each train, to provide estimated time of arrival and determine the best route for track usage in the event of extended traffic for both inbound and outbound processes.
